The best place to learn about bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

Here on this website, you will find news, information & education giving you all the info you need to get started with cryptocurrency. I know that some of you might be visiting here for the first time & are unsure of what cryptocurrency is or how it works. You have probably heard of bitcoin but are a little confused about what it is or how it works. Well, you are in the right place, I created this website with the intention of helping as many people as I can to understand what it is and why I think everybody in my opinion should own at least some bitcoin, even if only a small amount.

Ok, let’s get started. “What is cryptocurrency?”

Cryptocurrency is a digital currency used for transactions all over the world.  More importantly, it is a decentralized digital currency without a central bank or single administrator & can be sent from user to user on the peer to peer network known as the blockchain, without the need for a third party such as PayPal, Western Union or a bank. So to sum it up, anybody can pay anybody else direct from a smartphone, PC/laptop or tablet without any middle man to take a cut. So if for example you wanted to buy my car for one bitcoin, you would get out your smartphone, open an app called a digital wallet or cryptocurrency wallet & send me the one bitcoin. (more on how to do this later) After a number of transactions on the blockchain that payment of one bitcoin is confirmed & in my digital wallet. This payment is one way, nobody can stop it or cancel the transaction or do any chargebacks. The only way to get that back is if the person you send it to sends it back. You are your own bank, in charge of your own funds to do with as you please & that’s the power of a decentralized currency.

“So what is bitcoin?”

Bitcoin was in fact the first cryptocurrency. It was invented in 2008 by somebody using the name Satoshi Nakamoto and started in 2009 when its source code was released as open-source software.  Now nobody really knows who Satoshi Nakamoto really is or even if he really exists as he went missing towards the end of 2010.  It has been speculated that he is an unknown person or group of people that created it and the debate still goes on to this day.  What we do know is it created a revolution in the world of finance across the planet & can’t be stopped, this train left the station over 10 years ago, it’s my opinion that now is the time to jump on or get left behind. I believe as do many other people that bitcoin will reach extremely high prices in the future, so high in fact that it will be almost impossible for the average person to own anything more than a fraction of a bitcoin. So I feel it’s important to at least get a small piece of the pie so to speak & what you may not be aware of is you can purchase any amount of bitcoin right now on well-known exchanges like Coinbase. You don’t have to buy a whole bitcoin as many people believe, you can just buy what you like. For example, let’s say one bitcoin is worth $10,000 but you only have $2500 to buy bitcoin, well then you only purchase a quarter of a bitcoin which would be 0.25 btc. You can buy as much or as little as you like, if you only want to buy $100 worth of bitcoin, then you can.

So now you have a basic understanding of bitcoin, you may be thinking of buying some & that would be a good thing as I said earlier I think everybody should own some bitcoin even if only a small amount.

“So how do you buy bitcoin?” Where do you get started?

Well, I always recommend people start simple & the easiest place for beginners to get started would be Coinbase. I think everybody in the crypto space can agree on that. In fact, Coinbase has been around since 20th June 2012 & is regarded as the most trusted & secure place to purchase bitcoin & other cryptocurrencies.

Now that you own some bitcoin, the next step is to learn how to use it. Your bitcoin will be stored right there in the Coinbase digital wallet but I highly recommend that you download a private cryptocurrency wallet like Exodus wallet & send your bitcoin to that.

Exodus wallet is very easy to use & happens to be my favorite & the favorite of many others. This way you have full control over your bitcoin on your local device. You can download it here https://www.exodus.io/ I highly recommend that you watch the video on the Exodus home page to learn how to use it & please make sure that you write down the 12-word seed phrase (also known as a private key) on a piece of paper at least twice & keep in two safe & secure separate locations for security. The reason for this is if you lose your phone or laptop with the exodus wallet on, you will be able to download once again, put in your 12-word seed phrase & all of your cryptocurrency will appear in the wallet again. But if you have lost your 12-word seed phrase you will not be able to get back your cryptocurrency & that’s not a good thing. Then you will be wondering why you bothered in the first place to get involved with bitcoin as you just lost it all & that is NOT want we want. As Spiderman’s Uncle Ben said, ” With great power, comes great responsibility.” So secure that private key.

What Next?

So now that you have a Coinbase account, you can now buy and sell bitcoin & other cryptocurrencies. You should also have your Exodus wallet all set up to send & receive Bitcoin & other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum & Litecoin for example. At this point, give yourself a pat on the back as you now have a basic understanding of bitcoin & cryptocurrency & how to transact with it, congratulations 🙂
